How the program works!!!
During the months of October and November, we collect nomination letters for Tinley Park families from a variety of sources including schools, churches, and other humanitarian organizations. The board then reviews the recommendations and chooses nominees who are most in need of assistance. The number of families we help each year varies based upon how much money is donated. The only requirement is that the receiver must live in Tinley Park.
How Tinley Wish Began
Over twenty years ago, long time friends Rich Kozik and Dennis Mahoney (who both worked for Tinley Park PD) were working together at a charity event when the thought occurred,
"Hey, why can't we do this for Tinley Park?"
So, they went to work. They enlisted coworkers both on the Fire Department as well as the Police Department to form the first board. They were able to drum up donations from many, many different sources and found out about families who could use a helping hand that Christmas. And this was all done BEFORE social media!!!!
We continue this tradition every year and hope to do so for many years to come!

Giving back to the community
Tinley Wish is a nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1995. The organization raises money throughout the year in an effort to give back to community families in need.
